The Hangover
Directed by Todd Phillips
2009
★ 4.3 editorial score
It withholds the night itself and works entirely on reconstruction: four men wake in a wrecked Las Vegas suite with the groom missing, and piece the evening back together from the evidence.
“On paper, this film promises precisely zero: a Vegas fratboy comedy with a stilted cameo from Mike Tyson. Well, it turns out to be every bit as crass, offensive and incorrect as you'd expect, but it's also - gulp! - really very funny an awful lot of the time, as well as bizarrely gripping,”
