Terms of Service
Acceptance of these terms
Skopia is a hand-curated reference collection of quotations, books, artworks, albums, songs, and films, unified under one browsing vocabulary. By accessing or using Skopia (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
What Skopia is — and isn’t
Skopia is an editorial index. The works we catalogue — texts, images, recordings, and films — are the creations of their respective authors, artists, and rights holders. Skopia does not claim ownership of the underlying works, and inclusion in the collection is not an assertion of any right in them.
Our editorial scores, tags, groupings, notes, and the vocabulary that connects entries across media are Skopia’s own contribution. Those curatorial elements are offered for reference and personal enrichment, not as authoritative or scholarly citation.
Permitted use
You may browse, search, read, and share links to the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may quote short passages from our editorial commentary with attribution to Skopia.
You may not scrape, bulk-download, republish, or resell the collection or its curatorial data; misrepresent Skopia’s editorial judgments as your own; or use the Service in any way that infringes the rights of the original creators or of Skopia.
Intellectual property
Quotations and excerpts are attributed to their sources and reproduced for reference, commentary, and criticism. Book covers, artworks, album art, film posters, and video stills remain the property of their respective rights holders and appear here to identify the works catalogued.
Songs, albums, and trailers play through embedded YouTube players. The recordings are hosted by YouTube and remain the property of their uploaders and rights holders; Skopia links to them and does not copy them.
If you are a rights holder and believe a work has been presented incorrectly or without appropriate permission, contact us and we will review the entry promptly.
Accuracy of the collection
We assemble Skopia by hand and take care with dates, attributions, and sources. Even so, the canon is vast and human effort is fallible — entries may contain errors, contested attributions, or omissions.
The Service is provided for general interest and does not constitute scholarly, legal, or professional advice. Verify anything you intend to rely on against a primary source.
Store links
Many entries carry links to buy, stream, or watch the work elsewhere. They are there for your convenience; Skopia does not currently earn a commission on them. If that changes, we will say so here — and no commission will ever decide what enters the canon, how a work is scored, or how it is described.
Third-party links and services
The Service links to third-party sites — stores, streaming services, and the sources we cite — and embeds YouTube’s video player. The player loads in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, but once you play a video, YouTube’s own terms and privacy policy apply. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.
Accounts and your privacy
You can browse all of Skopia without an account. If you create one, you can like works and gather them into lists. You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account, or 16 in the European Union and the United Kingdom. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
Lists are private unless you choose to share one by link. Don’t use list names, descriptions or notes for anything unlawful, abusive or infringing; we may remove such content, or suspend an account that misuses the Service. You can download your data or delete your account at any time from your account page.
What we collect and how we use it is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short: no advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell your information.

Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Skopia and its curators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent the law allows.
Changes to the Service
Skopia is a living collection. We may add, revise, reorganize, or remove entries and features at any time, and we may suspend or discontinue the Service in whole or in part without notice.
Governing terms
These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Skopia regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
