Philip Seymour Hoffman spent months on the voice and it never sounds like an impression: Truman Capote gets the book of his life out of two condemned men, and knows what that costs.
“Capote - brilliantly impersonated here by Philip Seymour Hoffman - is a literary vampire, disarming local cops and townsfolk with his fey childlike manner while all the time drinking in everything that would make a good story. Graham Greene said you needed a sliver of ice in your heart to be a writer. Capote has half the Antarctic in there.”
