1988
★ 8.0 editorial score
Hollywood spent the next decade pitching films as Die Hard on a boat, a bus, a plane: McTiernan built the action machine everyone has been copying since 1988.
“"Die Hard" is the perfect action film. Others may have bigger explosions or more ambitious storylines, but "Die Hard" is a peerless marriage of plot, arena, execution and cast. Repeated views cannot dull its impact, or its humour, or its humanity. It's a film that should be watched at every opportunity.”
