Toy Story 2
Directed by John Lasseter and Ash Brannon
1999
★ 7.0 editorial score
Pixar scrapped the whole film and rebuilt it in nine months, and it came out better than expected: the song about being outgrown is what people remember.
“The comedy and characterisation are brisk and delightful, flexible and well-earned. Far from representing the end of the human touch, "Toy Story 2", with its computer-animated world of the here and now, revives the notion that movies can tell stories that will always matter, and the ends will always justify the means.”
