Broadcast News
Directed by James L. Brooks
1987
★ 6.4 editorial score
James L. Brooks got the newsroom exactly right and predicted what television news would become: three colleagues tangled up in each other, and the one who is best on camera knows the least.
“Broadcast News gets the details of the newsroom right—one justly famous sequence follows the frenzied post-production of a story before it gets rushed to air—and appreciates the changing dynamics of a business pressed to sacrifice integrity for solvency.”
