Children of Men
Directed by Alfonso Cuaron
2006
★ 8.7 editorial score
It looked like science fiction in 2006 and looks like the news now: Cuaron's roaming takes put you inside a collapsing Britain, and the ambush in the car is astonishing.
“"Children of Men" pictures a world that looks a lot like our own, but darker, grimmer and more frighteningly, violently precarious...Mr. Cuarón’s speculative fiction is a gratifying sign that big studios are still occasionally in the business of making ambitious, intelligent work that speaks to adults.”
