Bull's Head
A bull's head springs into being from the simplest of means: Picasso took a worn bicycle saddle for the face and the handlebars for the horns, and joined them into an unmistakable animal. With this witty act of transformation he showed how the artist's eye can turn cast-off objects into art - and joked that someone might one day turn it back into a bicycle. Now in the Musee Picasso in Paris, Bull's Head is among the most celebrated of all found-object sculptures, a small marvel of imaginative seeing and metamorphosis from two ordinary bits of metal and leather.
